Healthy resources, expectations and opportunities now and for the future
These basic techniques have several variations. Some involve the use of bait, while others employ lures or files.
Please remember that only barbless hooks can be used when fishing for salmon throughout British Columbia.
Always use sticky sharp hooks - sticky sharp? Take the time to file or ensure that your hooks are very sharp. The easiest way to know if a hook is really ready to go - take the point and see if it scrapes your finger nail. If it does - it's sticky sharp. Also, remember that if the fishing is slow and you've filed your hooks sharp you'll need to sharpen them again after several hours - the salt water will dull the point pretty quickly!
Using frozen bait that doesn't sparkle? Try using one or two creamers in the brine. That will bring out the shine and lustre of the scales.
